I’ve been running S.P. Polishing since 1994 — over 35 years of doing what I love. French polishing has always been a real passion of mine, and I take pride in using this traditional method to achieve a finish that’s truly unique. The process is as rewarding for me as it is for my customers.
Alongside French polishing, I also restore antique and modern furniture, as well as carrying out specialist woodwork repairs. Based in Swindon, I’ve built up a strong reputation over the years, and I’m proud that much of my work now comes through word of mouth.

Tailored interior woodwork — from staircases to doors, custom fitted to your home.
Two large oak chairs came in needing repairs, full restoration, and re-upholstering.
Description: This project began with a 4m x 2m boardroom table originally made from gloss black MDF. Years of use had left the surface covered in cup rings and heat marks. The client asked if it could be stripped and repolished, but MDF simply doesn’t allow for that kind of restoration.
I advised two options: a replacement MDF top, which would only last a few years before needing to be scrapped again, or a new solid walnut top — far more durable and prestigious. They chose walnut.
Working alongside a cabinet maker, we built the new table with integrated supply boxes for meeting use. I then finished it with a high-sheen polish, giving the table both elegance and longevity. Unlike MDF, this walnut top can be stripped and repolished many times over, ensuring it remains a centrepiece for years to come.
